The inspiration for this project came from a very personal but at the same time very universal feeling of “being understood.” I tried to reconstruct my childhood years that I could not live free of discrimination through the idea of living with applause. The humble representation of the sentence “Everything is gonna be fine” that I want to say to the kids that feel like an outcast at a very young age.
This illustration book is focused on inspiring queer kids between the age of 13 to 18, showcasing the milestones of Zeki Müren’s incomparable legacy through the joyful celebration of his life as well as how much obstacles he had to overcome as a queer artist for decades of endless marathon filled with versatile artistry.
